TSNs Jack Armstrong offers his thoughts on Danny Green, the defence of the Miami Heat, the future of the Boston Celtics, the addition of Patrick Ewing in Charlotte and the broadcast abilities of Jeff Van Gundy and Hubie Brown. 1. Danny Green (Spurs): 25 3s in the first five games. NBA record already. If you had to pick an MVP for the Spurs so far, hed be your guy. I love how crafty he is moving without the ball, getting himself in the proper spots for good looks and he uses screens beautifully. Miamis defence of him has at times been downright atrocious. Good for him, hes been brilliant. 2. Miami Defence: Sunday night, I saw a team not committed to playing the game hard and right with discipline on the defensive end. Poor communication and effort. I understand theyre a team that thrives on creating turnovers but guys are just lunging into passing lanes with little regard for the risk/reward factor. Spurs are a solid/well-coached team that will shred you if you dont cover with intelligence. Ball pressure, help, recovery, rotations, shot challenges were all sub-par. Weve seen them play at a high level before and Im sure well see it again in Game 6 but defensive effort after 100 games is supposed to be there all the time and be a habit. Maddening team to watch at times. 3. Doc Rivers/Danny Ainge: My advice, turn Doc into a tradeable asset and try to get what you can for him and Kevin Garnett. Youre in a rebuild mode now. Buy out Paul Pierce and look to acquire picks and young players. The fact that you can start fresh and re-tool your team based upon the assets you have is a good situation to be in. Rajon Rondo is a wonderful talent but something tells me hell be a royal pain in the you-know-what in a rebuilding situation and without the leadership of Doc, KG & Pierce. Might look to turn him into a favorable deal as well. 4. Patrick Ewing (Bobcats): Hired as an associate head coach by Steve Clifford. They worked together in Houston and Orlando and hell be a good fit. Love the big fella. Hoping in a few years hell get his chance somewhere in the NBA as a head coach. Many stars want it handed to them with their lifetime scholarship mentality. Not Ewing, hes been willing to pay his dues and I admire that. Hell get his chance. Good that hes back on the bench again after a year away. 5. Jeff Van Gundy and Hubie Brown: Have known both of these guys for years and respect them immensely. Its been a pleasure listening to Jeff on TV and Hubie on the radio during the Finals. Both outstanding basketball men who give you the substance; the whys, whats and hows in a well thought-out fashion. Van Gundy is quite entertaining, as well, which I enjoy. They are major ambassadors for our sport and are delivering the goods on the big stage. Myydään Yeezy Boost 350 v2 . The mixed zone is not a place to make friends. Dion Lewis injury setback isnt only frustrating news for his fantasy owners in leagues that drafted early; its also aggravating in that it takes the New England Patriots backfield a step backwards in terms of role certainty from week to week.Lewis, only nine months and four days removed from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee, will undergo a second surgery on the knee, a cleanup procedure that will apparently afford him a chance to return before the 2016 season concludes. In all likelihood, Lewis will land on the reserve/PUP list, which requires a minimum six games absence. The Boston Herald, meanwhile, reports that Lewis will miss 8-10 weeks, which would put his timetable for recovery at around Weeks 7-9. As the Patriots have a Week 9 bye, its likely that Lewis wont be a consideration until the Week 10 game against the Seattle Seahawks, giving him a chance at an eight-game season, but then the difficulty in a typical players recovery from an ACL tear needs to be considered. In standard leagues, its impossible to formulate a case to draft Lewis, especially not with bench spots precious during the Weeks 3-11 bye period. In Lewis absence, the fallout might seem somewhat obvious: LeGarrette Blount, who at times during the offseason was hinted to not even be guaranteed a roster spot, now appears to be the teams primary back on first and second downs; James White, who caught 40 passes in 10 games (playoffs included) after Lewis Week 9 injury last season and was the subject of much buzz during the 2014 preseason, now steps up as the teams passing-down back. The problem, however, is that each player presents inherent flaws, and for those drafting in close pproximity to such value-changing news, the danger is in overreacting.dddddddddddd. Blount, for example, is a mere 9-for-20 in converting goal-line runs (within 1 yard of the goal line) during his career, his 45 percent conversion rate well beneath the 54 percent league average during that time span. And he scored a whopping (and league-leading) 40 of his 110 fantasy points with the Patriots up by at least two touchdowns on the scoreboard in 2015, giving him more of a look of finisher than workhorse.White, meanwhile, is an inferior talent to Lewis who had a largely up-and-down performance after stepping into that role in 2015.Thats why, while both Blount and White moved up my rankings following the Lewis news, the name that might warrant the closest attention these next two weeks is Tyler Gaffney, who in two preseason games has 20 carries for 95 and one touchdown. Gaffney, like White, possesses more limited skill than the men ahead of him on the depth chart, but without a clear-cut leading man on the roster, hes certainly capable of carving out a respectable role. After all, it was only two seasons ago that the Patriots gave five different running backs starts, had four different running backs post a 15-point fantasy game and failed to have a single back exceed 101 fantasy points for the season. With the news, Blount is now my No. 33 running back, tops among Patriots backs but still 12 spots behind where I initially had Lewis (21st). White, meanwhile, has moved up to 48th, though hed earn a ranking closer to Blounts in PPR formats. ' ' '
